Welcome to Source Counter!

Thank you for using the Source Counter plugin. This plugin allows you to track visits to your website based on specific query string parameters in the URL.

How It Works

The plugin tracks visits to your home page when visitors arrive with a specific query string parameter. For example, if someone visits your site with ?src=your-tracking-code, the plugin will count that visit and track it by date.

Getting Started

1

Add Query Strings

Go to the "Manage Query Strings" tab to add the query string values you want to track. For example, if you want to track visits with ?src=abc123, add abc123 as a query string.

2

View Counts

Navigate to the "Counters" tab to see all your query strings and their visit counts. Each query string shows a total count and a daily breakdown.

3

Track Visits

When visitors come to your home page with a tracked query string (e.g., yoursite.com/?src=abc123), the visit is automatically counted and added to that query string's statistics.

Manage Data

In the "Manage Query Strings" tab, you can:

  • Add new query strings to track
  • Reset counts for individual query strings
  • Remove query strings (this also deletes their count data)

Example Use Cases

📱

QR Code Tracking

Create QR codes with different query strings to track which QR codes generate the most visits.

📢

Campaign Tracking

Use different query strings for different marketing campaigns to see which campaigns drive the most traffic.

🔗

Source Attribution

Track where visitors are coming from by using unique query strings for different sources.

💡
Tip: The plugin only tracks visits to your home page. Make sure your tracking URLs point to your home page with the query string parameter (e.g., https://yourdomain.com/?src=your-code).
